Hi, Andy. My pal has an uncle who worked in the garment industry, and he quotes him as an expert source saying fabric softener in the laundry causes tiny holes in garments over time. Since ALL my 100% cotton knits get these holes, I’d love to know if that’s true!
I don’t think so. There is no information that I have uncovered to suggest that fabric softeners are the contributing issue. Fabric softener are more of a problem in messing with the wicking properties for “tech” fabrics form companies like UnderArmour. More likely is the aggressive use of stain removers and fabric abrasion from washing machine and wear.
