I am looking for cotton duck fabric to slipcover my couch. I like the Ralph Lauren red chino but it is so expensive. I have gotten some samples for 8-10 dollars–is there a big difference in quality compared to RL or I am just paying for the name?

Dear Nuala: This is question that everyone wants the answer to. In some cases, you ARE just paying for the name. However, you may also be buying a fabric that is heavier in weight and more durable. As with a lot of things in life, you have to weigh the alternatives.
