Can i dye 97% viscose 3% elastin red dress black?

Hi 

i have a red dress 97% viscose but i need it to be black.  it has had a hand wash before and seems fine.  i got one of these washing machine dyes,  what will happed if i use it?  Thank you so much

    HI Claire, 
    all dyeing is an experiment. On top of that, it’s difficult to get a really dark saturated black. If you are willing to try it, you could dye the dress with the reactive dye available at http://www.dharmatrading.com. You will also need ordinary table salt & soda ash (available from Dharma). Keep in mind, dyeing is a warm-water-and-agitation process, so consider what your dress can take. It may shrink or twist, for example.
