I’m planning my wedding for this summer, and I’d like to make my own wedding dress to make it a bit more personal and special. I’ve been looking at possible designs online, and I really like the ones that have a lace or tulle overlay designed as a long jacket with one button in the front. The problem is that the edges of the jacket have a finished lace edge that blends into the rest of the lace. Do they specially make these pieces, or can I duplicate that?

Dear Aubrey: Actually, we too are planning a summer wedding. We’ve seen the garment you are trying to duplicate.
These laces are created especially for the designers that use them. I doubt that you will be able to find the same lace in the retail fabric market. No harm in trying, though.
