Does a picture of the fabric help?

Im studying product design in the MIT Institute of design Pune, Maharastra, India. I am working on a project and wanted to know that if someone in another country asks about a fabric, is a photograph of the fabric enough to determine which one/type it is? Or is it more covenient if a physical sample is present?

If it does help, then by how much?

    Hi Ayush Vaid,

In identification of a fabric it is essential to have the fabric in peson. Even with a sample of the fabric, it may require testing in a textile lab using chemicals and multiple tests.

In some cases just looking at a photograph of a fabric, along with a description is enough to determine the type but this is not fool proof.

    Hope this helps!
