Dying a cotton sweater?

I have a new white sweater that I would like to dye cream to match a dress my mother bought me.  I didn’t know how to go about doing this exactly.  I thought I would get a Brown Rite Dye liquid form and put it in the bottle suggested water with only a small amount of the Brown dye. I’m not sure how small I should use or if this would even work in turning the sweater cream. Do you have any suggestions. The sweater is new and 100% cotton.  Thanks Gwen

    HI Gwen,
Check to see if Rit has a cream, ivory, or ecru color. That will be easier to use. Keep in mind all dyeing is an experiment! Wash the sweater first in warm water & detergent to remove any sizing or coatings to the fibers. Good luck, Jennifer
