Fabrics used for Jackets

Hello, I wish to launch my own brand of Kids jackets. I want to know different fabrics used in jackets, the fillings. What filling to be used for what temperatures. How can I get the quality control done on the jackets manufactured?

    Hi Manjiri,

You probably want to start by locating manufacturers in your area and then branching out to others that will produce the quality you want. This is going to require a lot of networking and cold calling till you find what you are looking for. The internet is going to be your best friend for a long time. Just start googling clothing manufacturers and then start calling and emailing. As far as interiors and types of material, you need to decide what you want the look to be. Again the internet is your be friend but you need to see and feel what these fabrics are as well. Google outdoor fabric manufacturers and see if they will send you samples. Some do and some don’t. Fabric libraries at clothing design schools will sometimes let you in to do research but not often. Rip stop is a good one but again YOU are going to need to acquire a large fabric library and knowledge of what you WANT your jackets to be. My best advice would be to look into a clothing design school that will let you take the classes that you want.
