Dear Andy,
I’d like to get a prototype for a baby blanket idea I have. Most companies I’ve found don’t do fabric prototypes. Where do I go?
Dear Tonia: It would be very expensive to have a prototype made of a custom fabric. With more fabric mills closing up in the USA, it gets more impossible every day. If you are willing to spend several thousand dollars, just to make a few yards, it may be possible to find a custom knitter or woven mill that might take your idea and turn it into a fabric. Plan to attend one of the upcoming wholesale fabric trade shows. Visit http://www.apparel-graphic-design.com/fabric-trade-shows.html and www.material-world.com to see the shows in the US, sign up and register to attend, Good Luck, Andy
