    Hi Leon,
Well first off, Polyester will help keep the material wrinkle free, Rayon makes the fabric very soft and Spandex gives it just that little bit of stretch. This fabric is going to have a nice flow and drape. The polyester will help with shrinkage too. Rayon tend to shrink a lot. As far as wight goes that’s really something you want to test out. I tend to make fabrics do what I want no matter the weight. It’s just how it is treated, whether it’s backed or lined or what have you. Also what style of dress are you going for. Light and airy? Heavy winter? these are things YOU need to determine in your designing. Then match your fabric weight and weave to what best suites the designs. Like I have told many people, build yourself a fabric swatch book, labeling the swatches with what they are, the weave, weight, thread count, type of finishes, dyes used anything that might be relevant to building your knowledge library. Having something on hand to feel and refer to is much better than guessing and then buying hundreds of yards of fabric that you then can’t use.
    Hope that helps.
