Andy I live in Alaska and have a favorite rocker recliner and would like to get it reupholstered. Many of the web sites I have looked at say its cheaper to buy a new one than it is to have it reupholstered. Is this true? The recliner it’s self is still in very good shape but it is a ugly gold/yellowish color it was made in the late 70’s early 80’s, has foam inside, the back slides up and out and buttons all over it the chair is very heavy and sturdy.

Lisa: It is true that it is usually less expensive to buy new than to reupholster your old one. However, you may be able to find someone nearby to do the work for a good price. Shop around.
