I don’t know about you, but I am constantly reading. I read everything from history to self help, biography’s to comics and romance to motorcycle magazines. You never know what is going to inspire you to create. I recently ran across Threads new zine, “Designer Techniques: The Best of Threads, Collector’s Edition, Spring/Summer 2011.” WOWzer’s. Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Elsa Schiaparelli, Issey Miyaki, and more. Talk about techniques of the trade! Threads Magazine is one of those resources I check back in with on a regular basis for just this reason, every once in a while they put out something I can really sink my teeth into, great job guys!
Other great reads are “Chanel A Woman of Her Own” by Axel Madsen and “Threads My Life Behind The Seams In The High-Stakes World Of Fashion” by Joseph Abboud with Ellen Stern. And when I think I have run out of ideas I always return to a designer who constantly inspires me, Thierry Muggler. His book, “Fashion Fetish Fantasy”, is almost all pictures of the fantastical things he has created. It never fails to get my creative juices flowing again. If I ever get to meet him in person I might faint. Here’s hoping!
I would love to hear what inspires you the readers as far as books go. I’m always on the hunt for the next good read. Let me know in the comments what some of your favorite reads are.
