I have a high school letter jacket with vinyl sleeves from 1980. For many years, I had stored it covered with a plastic garment bag, like what comes from the cleaners. When I finally removed the bag, the sleeves were all sticky. Ever since, I’ve stored the jacket hanging, open to air. Now, the coating on the sleeves seems to be liquefying and slowly dripping from the sleeves – it’s the color of clean oil. What can I do to remove the sticky substance and keep this from happening?
Sincerely,
Lisa
Lisa: Take your jacket to a good tailor. They may be able to replace the sleeves either with new vinyl ones, or real wool ones. Good Luck, Andy
