Vintage Japanese kimono silk

Hi,

I am purchasing some vintage Japanese kimono silk fabric and would like to know how I should preshrink this fabric prior to sewing.  Your help is appreciated.

    Hi Joni,

    Did the store where you purchased this fabric have any suggestions?

    I have no idea if the komono that you have can be washed so to be on the safe side, I would dry clean. If you absolutely want to wash the finished item made with the komono fabric, test a small swatch by washing it using a mild shampoo to see if it shrinks or the colors run.
