Since silk fibers are smooth dirt doesn’t gather in silk fabric. Silk fibers are slightly weaker when wet so excessive agitation is not recommended when cleaning or washing this fabric. Strong bleaches such as chlorine bleaches will also damage silk. Mild bleaches such as hydrogen peroxide can be used sparingly. Again, remember that silk is a protein fiber like your hair so use products on your silk that you would use on your hair.
